Logan
Brand Introduction
Logan Instruments Corp., founded in 1990 by Dr. Luke Lee in Somerset, New Jersey, is a leading global brand specializing in automated drug dissolution testing systems, transdermal diffusion absorption systems (IVRT/IVPT), and biomimetic membrane penetration prediction systems.
With over 30 years of experience in precision manufacturing and automation R&D in the United States, Logan Instruments is driven by "high automation integration," "prospective dosage form coverage (USP 1 to 7 full coverage)," and "biomimetic IVIVC/BE" to provide comprehensive solutions for in vitro drug release and penetration assessment to the world's top 50 multinational pharmaceutical companies, generic drug development giants, CRO/CDMO laboratories, and drug regulatory agencies in various countries (such as the US FDA).
Core values
USP Apparatus 1 to 7-dose full-dose in vitro release solutions :
Breaking through the limitations of traditional dissolution instruments that focus solely on conventional oral formulations, the technology now encompasses:
Standard basket/paddle method (USP 1 & 2)
Reciprocating cylinder method (USP 3) and reciprocating frame method (USP 7, applicable to controlled release/patch)
Flow-through cell method (USP 4, applicable to nanoparticles, microspheres, implants, and liposomes)
Franz Cell Transdermal Diffusion System (USP 1724 / IVRT / IVPT)
High-precision automation and reduced laboratory burden :
We focus on fully automating the processes of manual sampling, filtration, dilution, cleaning, and media preparation. Our proprietary technology effectively avoids human error, significantly reduces experimental time by 70%, and eliminates cross-contamination of samples.
Leading a new generation of in vitro bioequivalence (IVIVC/BE prediction) :
The innovative Permetro® biomimetic membrane penetration system simultaneously analyzes traditional "physical dissolution" and "biomembrane absorption dynamics" on a single platform, becoming a powerful tool for prescription screening of poorly soluble drugs (BCS II/IV) and FDA generic drug consistency evaluation.
Global regulatory compliance and data integrity :
The entire range of instruments and operating software strictly complies with USP <711>, <724>, <1724>, EP, JP and ChP ; the software fully supports FDA 21 CFR Part 11, EU GMP Annex 11 and ALCOA+ audit tracking specifications.
Product direction
Logan Instruments' product architecture spans four major areas: "high-throughput and conventional dissolution systems," "transdermal and topical formulation diffusion systems," "specialty dosage form release and penetration systems," and "media pretreatment and automated robots."
1. Drug dissolution testing systems (USP 1 & 2)
UDT series (UDT-818-8/UDT-860-12/850-DL) :
Dual-Zone Speed Control : The 12-cup system can be divided into two independent zones with independently set speeds (up to 300 RPM), supporting parallel comparisons of "original drug vs. generic drug" or "basket method vs. paddle method" on the same machine.
Two-Piece Shafts : No need to disassemble the main shaft when changing the mixing paddle/basket; features automatic height positioning and excellent anti-sway precision.
Fully sealed low evaporation and bottom reflector : The fully enclosed seal prevents the medium from evaporating, and the base mirror auxiliary design allows for easy observation of the dynamic state of the dissolution cup without blind spots.
2. Transdermal Diffusion Systems (IVRT / IVPT)
Logan is a leading global brand in transdermal penetration research for topical semi-solid preparations (ointments, creams, gels, patches).
System 918 Series / DHC-6TD (Dry-type Heating Lifting Diffusion System) :
Bubble-Free Franz Diffusion Cells : Precision borosilicate glass and PEEK connectors effectively eliminate the interference of microbubbles under the membrane on the penetration rate.
Patented Dry Heat Technology : Eliminates the cumbersome piping and scale buildup problems of traditional circulating water baths, provides uniform and precise temperature control (RT ~ 50.0°C ± 0.2°C), and supports electric automatic tilting to remove air bubbles.
Fully automated sampling workstation (DSC-800 online) : Supports 6/12/24 synchronous continuous sampling of diffusion cells, equipped with a high-precision syringe pump and automatic replenishment of isothermal and isochoric solvent.
3. Special formulations and biomimetic penetration systems (USP 3, 4, 7 & Permetro®)
Super-4 Flow Cell Dissolver (USP Apparatus 4) :
Designed specifically for poorly soluble drugs, nano-suspensions, microspheres, stents (DES), and implants.
It supports both open-loop and closed-loop modes, and is equipped with the MC-4000 automatic pH gradient switching module to accurately simulate the dynamic changes in pH in the gastrointestinal tract.
BioDis / RRT-830 Series (Reciprocating Cylindrical Method USP 3 & Reciprocating Frame Method USP 7) :
Patented automatic flip covers and tapered condensate return valve completely eliminate evaporation loss and cross-contamination during multi-row switching.
Permetro® Dissolution-Permeation System :
Integrating a 6-port precision Permetro cell with a PB-m biomimetic membrane , it simultaneously monitors "drug dissolution rate" and "penetration absorption flux (Flux)" to accurately predict bioavailability.
4. Automated Sampling, Cup Washing, and Media Preparation System
MDS/AVC Series (Mobile Fully Automated Dissolution Medium Preparation and Dispensing System) :
Highly efficient degassing and heating : Built-in vacuum degassing system rapidly reduces dissolved oxygen in the medium to < 6 ppm (fully compliant with USP Toolkit specifications), and heats 40L of medium to 37.0°C within 25 minutes.
Ultra-high precision dispensing : Volume accuracy reaches 99.00%, and it can accurately fill 6 1L dispensing cups within 2 minutes.
Brand advantages
A complete chain from R&D screening to commercial release : The product line can seamlessly connect pre-formulation, BE prediction (Permetro), process development (USP 3/4/7, IVRT/IVPT) to QC mass release (high-throughput 12-cup dissolution apparatus and automated media preparation), establishing a unified data evaluation system for pharmaceutical companies.
Highly flexible customization and integration capabilities : Compared to the fixed and closed architecture of traditional large manufacturers, Logan offers highly modular flexibility and can be deeply integrated with online UV-Vis, HPLC automated flow paths and LIMS systems of various brands (such as Agilent, Sotax, Waters, Shimadzu).
FDA and global benchmark companies' performance endorsement : Its IVRT/IVPT transdermal diffusion system and patented dissolution technology are widely purchased by the US FDA CDER (Center for Drug Evaluation and Research), major international multinational pharmaceutical companies and top pharmacy colleges, and have a high degree of regulatory persuasiveness and credibility.
